Richard Udice

Richard Udice grew up on the Rockefeller Estate in Pocantico Hills. While living on the estate, he was surrounded by an incredible art collection which has had a definite impact on his entire life. He has always made time to paint even while teaching school in Westchester, N.Y.

Favoring landscapes painted in oils, Richard’s style and techniques have evolved over the past few years now that he is a full time resident of East Hampton. His work tends to focus on the impact of the unique lighting found here on the East End of Long Island.

In 2011, Richard Udice has become more moody. His skies are rolling and tumbling with threatening or brightening clouds. Either situation casts suggestive and mysterious shadows. Something's coming, something's out there... Spatial vastness and boundlessness go beyond his canvas. This series has a new breath and elegance!
